From the elegance and refinement of 18th century Vienna – in the guise of a Haydn Sonata – to the cutting edge experimental music of the 20th century – hugely challenging music from the Father of Avant-garde, Karlheinz Stockhausen – via the shimmering fantasy- world of Ravel and the monumental intensity of Brahms, savour the matchless mastery of a pianist who has been described as one of “a handful of performers in any
generation whose abilities defy the imagination”.

Finance: BMO Deepens Commitment to China; Acquires a 19.99% Interest in COFCO Trust Co

BMO announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a 19.99 per cent interest – the maximum permitted for a foreign investor – in COFCO Trust Co., a subsidiary of COFCO Group – one of China’s largest state-owned enterprises with operations across a variety of sectors, including agriculture and financial services.  COFCO Trust Co. was established in 2009 and had assets under management of RMB 36 billion (US$5.7 billion) as at December 31, 2011.

“BMO’s commitment to China dates back to a year after our founding as Canada’s first bank in 1817. As we looked to expand BMO’s offering to high net worth and institutional clients in China through a local partner, COFCO Trust emerged as the perfect choice,” said Gilles Ouellette, President and Chief Executive Officer of BMO Financial Group’s Private Client Group and Chairman of BMO ChinaCo.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The deal is subject to approval from the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) and the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions of Canada (OSFI), and to other customary closing conditions.

Economics: Hong Kong and Singapore ranked first and third respectively in Ernst & Young’s Globalization Index 2011 released today.

The third annual Ernst & Young globalization report draws on two sources of original research: Ernst & Young’s Globalization Index, which measures the world’s 60 largest economies according to their degree of globalization relative to their GDP, and a survey of 1,000 senior business executives worldwide, conducted in late 2011, canvassing their thoughts on globalization; as well as a forecast of global and regional GDP growth over the next four years.

Lou Pagnutti, Area Managing Partner, Asia-Pacific of Ernst & Young comments, “While globalization continues apace regardless of weaker growth around the world, it is important to take into consideration that most of this growth comes from Asia: this year 14 of the world’s 60 largest economies according to their degree of globalization relative to their GDP come from Asia, compared to 12 the year before”.

Mining: VMS 100% Owned Cowan River Project Drilling begins

VMS VENTURES COMMENCES DRILL PROGRAM ON ITS 100% OWNED COWAN RIVER PROJECT NEAR SNOW LAKE, MANITOBA

Vancouver, B.C., February 22, 2012 – VMS Ventures Inc. (VMS: TSX-V) (“VMS”) is pleased to announce that drilling is about to commence on its 100% owned projects near Snow Lake.  The projects selected for drilling this year are Cowan River, Morton Lake, Puella Bay and McClarty.  Westcore Drilling of Salmo, B.C. has been awarded the contract.

The first drill program, which starts later this week, will be on the Cowan River project. It will test surface time-domain electromagnetic (TDEM) anomalies from our recently completed survey and a new target at the already defined Cowan River zone.  The TDEM survey outlined two conductive bodies associated with VTEM anomalies on the southern portion of the grid. Two diamond drill holes are planned to test these targets.

One drill hole is planned for the Cowan River zone, testing a bore hole (BHPEM) anomaly below the  high grade copper discovery made in 2011 featuring 9.81% copper over 1.37 m within 6.59 m of 2.25% copper in hole RE-11-001 (see news release dated April 13, 2011). The intersection is in similar formations to those that host the Reed Copper deposit and the Reed North zone, located ~8 km to the west.  All three Cowan River targets occur in a favourable volcanic sequence between the Reed Copper deposit and the past producing Spruce Point Cu-Zn deposit.
