Tax treaty makes Hong Kong the investment key to North America

As the Canadian government seeks to revive Chinese investment in Canada, a lawyer says a new Canada-Hong Kong tax treaty due to come into effect next year could make the city a channel for investment in North America.

Chinese investment in Canada has slowed since a major deal in February, but the premier of the province of British Columbia, Christy Clark, plans to highlight opportunities in liquefied natural gas during a 13-day trade mission to China beginning on November 21 while promoting her province to Chinese firms.
