York University is the leading interdisciplinary teaching and research university in Canada. The University is situated in Toronto, Ontario, one of North America’s most multicultural cities and the financial hub of Canada. More than 100 languages and dialects are spoken here and Toronto has 79 ethnic publications catering to the languages and cultures of readers. York provides an urban,  diverse and safe university experience within a dynamic community of more than 55,000 students, 7,000 faculty and staff spread over two campuses and more than 200,000 alumni worldwide. Ten Faculties and 28 research centres conduct ambitious, groundbreaking research that cuts across traditional academic boundaries.

The University’s two unique campuses are Keele and Glendon. The Keele campus is a modern,
self-contained community and home to five libraries, 92 buildings, five top-rate athletic facilities, nine residences, a bookstore, and an astronomical observatory. The campus provides world-class facilities to support students academically and socially: from busy classrooms, labs and lecture halls, spacious libraries and writing centres to a shopping mall, medical/dental centre and 40+ restaurants. Also on the Keele campus are our 28 globally impactful research centres, an award-winning “green” Computer Science & Engineering Building and the Accolade — an outstanding fine arts teaching, exhibition and performance complex.

Glendon has a strong tradition of preparing future leaders through a world-class liberal arts education with an international flair. As the only fully integrated bilingual Faculty of its kind in Canada, Glendon is the perfect place for connecting and collaborating with cultures and across languages. Glendon differs from all other Canadian university campuses by offering courses within the context of two languages and cultures, English and French. The campus is home to 2,600 students with an average class size of 20, making for a very personalized experience. Glendon’s beautiful, park-like campus is set in a scenic mid-town neighbourhood, only moments from the boutiques, restaurants and nightlife of downtown Toronto. No other university in Ontario provides such an integrated experience with an international flair. York’s campuses truly offer a vibrant community for top scholars seeking a multicultural, cosmopolitan atmosphere.

York’s vibrant, safe communities combine academic and extracurricular activities in an experience that beckons to international students all over the world. For more information, visit

Baobab Resources plc

Jon Crowe, Director

Ben James, Managing Director

Jonathan Beardsworth, Director

Baobab Resources plc is an AIM-listed explorer which has been active in Mozambique since 2005, working on a diverse portfolio of projects. The company’s major focus is the Tete project, a magnetite-vanadium-titanium deposit currently standing at a JORC resource of 482 million tonnes, with an anticipated resource in excess of 1 billion tonnes.

The deposit is situated in Mozambique’s Tete region, which hosts the largest unexploited coal reserves on Earth, southern Africa’s largest hydro-electric power station and abundant transport
infrastructure.

The proximity of the deposit to this infrastructure led Baobab to conduct a scoping study which has shown highly attractive economics in adding value on-site by way of mine-mouth smelting.

The scoping study was compiled by international consultants Coffey Mining and considers two scenarios: to simply produce a concentrate or to continue processing through to pig iron. The economics showed compelling reasons to smelt, with a pre-tax IRR of 34% and NPV10 of USD1.4b. from an initial Capex of just USD690m.

Baobab has now proceeded to commission Coffey and SNC Lavalin to undertake a Pre-Feasibility
Study, due for completion later this year.

The company has rapidly developed the Tete project from a grass-roots geophysical anomaly in 2009 through a maiden drilled resource of 47.7Mt in 2010 to today’s 482Mt resource. What was an
exploration concept three years ago is now well on track to becoming an important industrial
development.

Mozambique is an ideal country into which to be investing. Highly ranked by the World Bank, it has a stable, democratically elected government, a modern Mining Act and good infrastructure with major investments channelling into transport, power, communication, agriculture, industry and mining.

Significant discoveries of oil and gas and the development of the massive coal fields of Tete are positioning Mozambique on the world stage as an energy source producer and exporter. Many of
the top tier mining and industrial companies are already active in the Tete region as the coal fields
begin to yield their wealth. It is estimated that Mozambique will be producing up to 20% of global
coking coal within the next decade, assuring the country’s international standing.

Baobab is ideally positioned to benefit from the synergies with the coal development to maximise
the value of its iron deposit and supply the growing pig iron market over the long term.
