As the ExecDir, I go to some cool events. But this was truly awesome – I met the last man on the moon.
Captain Eugene Cernan is a Bombardier Ambassador and spoke about, well, going to the moon! He commented passionately on recent cutbacks in the NASA program and the future of man’s place in the heavens. Captain Cernan (pronounced cher-nan) also spoke about flying all new Bombardier jets and all aspects related to safety.
I got a chance to speak to him a bit about the profound changes wrought in the men that went and returned and about how you live after having been to the moon – what could be bigger than that?
David Dixon, the host (see pictures), also slid me a copy of the book, The Last Man on the Moon, signed by the man. I’m reading it now. Truly an inspiring story about someone who studied by kerosene light as a teen and rose to fly fighter jets…and then…walked on the moon. Awesome.
